Benefit Concert for the Casualties of the Flood
44 bands joined together for the casualties of the flood
44 bands played music in “Dürer Kert” in order to aid the casualties of the 2010 flood with the concert’s income.
The benefit concert started in “Dürer Kert” with the greetings of Tibor Dobson, spokesman for the appointed Minister of Flood Defence, and Mihály Nagy Enyedi dr. jur, agent for the National Helpline Foundation. Right after them, bands began playing music in two halls. Well-known groups and performers of the Hungarian underground scene performed: among others, the Pannonia Allstars Ska Orchestra, the Road, the “Akkezdet Phiai”, The Grenma, the Subscribe, and József Kalapács. From 20 p.m. to closing, full house welcomed the bands; despite the pouring rain during all that evening and night. The organisers had fixed a minimum ticket price which was 500 HUF.
“Zene A Rasszizmus Ellen” (Music Against Racism)
The campaign “ZARE” (Music against Racism) is the initiative of the United Kingdom’s ambassador in Budapest; this initiative is coordinated by the Subjective Assets Foundation.
Why exactly on 21 March?
21 March is the World Antiracism Day. UN appointed it in 1966 as a remembrance of the 69 casualties of the anti-Apartheid demonstration (South Africa, 1960) which ended up with butchery. There are processes in the world that initiate the exclusion of some races from the circle of people who have access to the cultural and material goods that concern all of us. The World Antiracism Day propagates the inevitability and legitimacy of living next to each other, it promotes the idea of better knowing and accepting each other; moreover, it remembers those who devoted their lives to the struggle against racism. ZARE has joined to the activity week against racism this spring; events go on in more than 40 countries with one common aim: to attract the citizens’ attention to the problems caused by racism and to their solutions.
OTP Junior Ground of Sound 2009
12 bands and DJs, six cities, and seven locations. It sounds quite serious. And it is. It is rare to see the “Erik Sumo” and the “Bëlga” on the same stage, and then DJ Cadik and MC Zeek provide music. And this is only the program for the OTP Junior Ground of Sound concert series. If it is added that in this series there features the PASO, the PASO’s Root Rockers, the “Kaukázus”, the “Vad Fruttik”, the Brains, The Carbonfools, and the “Bëlga”, the one-time music fan will click their fingers so that the people in the Seismology Department will panic watching the Richter scale. The DJ supply is not that inadequate, either. Apart from Cadik, Titusz, the “Erik Sumo”, and the Superstereo along with the PASO Sound System will be present after the concerts.

Excellent wines, outstanding jazz performers and tasty mouthfuls await everyone at Easter (11-12-13 April 2009).
